As The Station Turns 5/17

So I woke still sick and I really didn't want to go to work. But thanks to several firings and the short sightedness of the management I don't have anyone to cover my shift, so off to work I went. And if you get infected because you came in, not my problem.

Anyhow I did consider asking Mrs. Late Guy if she could cover tomorrow afternoon so I could take a day off however she had some news for me, it seems the Dyslexic woman, who has been working Down Town wants Friday off to go to high school graduation. So I get Monday, and Tuesday off (an actual two day weekend) and then I'll be covering there on Friday. I don't know how that is going to work, I don't have numbers for the register or the safe and I don't have keys to lock up the building, But at least I get a sick day.

A woman didn't want to hand me her bottle of water, she just wanted to pay for it. How am I suppose to scan it if she doesn't hand it to me? I could have charged her whatever I wanted but instead I forced her to hand me the bottle. She could go wipe it down later.

Mrs. Late Guy had been working solo in the morning and she didn't get a chance to dump the outside trash, I told her to not worry about it and I'd catch it later. So I got a gap and figured I would run out real quick, swarmed, they came out of nowhere. It finally cleared out again and...a guy moves in to the restroom so I'm stuck waiting for him, and then of course the second wave comes in and I'm stuck waiting again. About two hours later I finally dumped the trash, three full bags and several large plastic jugs.

I was watching across the street and the Random Woman showed up late again, she's really working that passive/aggressive thing. So a half hour after his shift ended the Late Guy came in the station, he likes the Red Bulls that we sell and he doesn't have them at the Haunted Station. He was mumbling and grumbling about the Random Woman but never said anything specific. Oh how I'm laughing, and again I full expect her to just not show up one day. He's also going to be stuck at work for an extra two hours on Monday, I didn't ask what was going on because he seemed like he was in a hurry. The worst part is that since I'm taking two sick days I won't be going out so I won't get a chance to hear the full story for at least a week.

So like I said, I've been nursing a head cold for two days and was stuck at work because of poor decisions by the management. And that's when a guy walked in to the wrong place at the wrong time on the wrong day. He was buying some DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) and was bitching about the price. He then asked what the price was on the other brand and I told him it was $10 more. And that's when he pissed me off, he said (and I'm going off memory so it isn't exact) "You should be in jail, I'm being Robbed!" Like I said, wrong place, wrong day, wrong person. So I said "Well I can take care of that for you" and I voided the sale and carried the jug of DEF back to the shelf. He said "Hey, I wanted to buy that!" and I said, in a very condescending tone "Well I wouldn't want you to Be Robbed" with a rising inflection on the last two words so he knew full well I was mocking him. He then said "So you're refusing me service?" And I said "I'm protecting you from Being Robbed" I emphasized the last two words so he fully knew why I was doing what I was doing. So he stormed out cursing at me and when he got to the door he said "And you're a Bitch!" I was laughing internally since this was the best he could do, I didn't just touch a nerve on this self entitled prick who thought he could treat people like trash, I had jabbed fully into that nerve and wiggled the needle around. He then said "And I'm going to tell everyone you're a Bitch!" Ooo, call the burn ward. I was tempted to say "You're wasting your time pal, everyone knows that I'm a world class asshole" but I know about the bully mentality and how they try to start a fight and when you defend yourself they claim they are the victim and you attacked them, and at this point he no longer existed in my universe, I just ignored him which bothered him worse. He got in his truck and tore off the lot. I felt sorry for the next person he encountered but at the same time I didn't care, I hope I ruined his whole week.

A guy said he wanted $70 in fuel and hands me a $50 and two $20. I said "$70 or $90?" He asked what he handed me so I showed him and he took the one $20 back, and thats when he discovered that there was an extra $20 stuck to one of the bills, he had paid me $110 dollars. If I had been a dishonest person I could have made a quick $40 but after the previous a-hole I figured I had balanced out Yin Yang and was back in favor with the Universe.

The Storyteller came in and mentioned his nickname. He asked me if he ever told me the story of how he got it and of course I said "No, I don't think you have" so he told me the story I've heard a dozen times. Again, trying to get in good with the universe.

An Earth Wanderer came in and asked if I smoked but I don't so he couldn't bum a cigarette off me. He went out and was probably going to dig through the butt can. A biker came in and was worried about the weirdos out on the lot, the guy must have asked him for a smoke too. I should explain that he was a big bad biker like the Wild Hogs crowd. The Earth Wanderer drifted on, crisis over.

btw, the Biker was looking for souvenir nail clippers. Sorry dude, we only sell the regular ones.

A very attractive woman, and her very insecure boyfriend came in. He wouldn't let her out of his site and gave the stink eye to every other guy in the building. There's a doomed relationship.

At the end of the night Skippy came in, was he worried the Graveyard Shift wouldn't show up again? I was busy at the time so he just hung out. When the place cleared he left a message for the the Graveyard shift, both the Morning and Afternoon shift are down to one person each so since two people are on all night, and have less business, he wants them to start picking up the slack. I passed on the message but I out in in a special way,  I told them that Skippy was on a tear and kept doing spot inspections, and I expected him to show up early in the morning. I passed the message on so my job is done, after all I'm not their boss.

It's Monday now and I'm sitting at home and not planning on doing anything but complain about my sinus.
