As The Station Turns 6/03
Thank goodness, the manager is in a better mood. It's usually just Monday and then I have Tuesday off so I can avoid most of that. However she lost a box of M&M's so I promised I would look for it. I never found it.
If you read the last post you know I found multiple coin rolls with wheat pennies in them, and by multiple I mean 7. So, there was a roll in my drawer when I counted in so I checked it and found10 more! I dropped a couple more from the safe but no more wheat pennies. I think I've cleaned them all out. I was tempted to tell the Crazy Lady because she's a coin collector and if she knew she would empty the whole safe, but she was in a mood so I didn't. Everybody is in a mood these days.
The highway department was across the street blading the lower parking lot, it's highway right of way property btw. This means stage one of the physical work on the bridge project has began. They are going to bypass the main road to the frontage road to the next highway overpass about a mile north. This is going to be a fun summer.
Today a family group came in and used the restroom. Then they left, then they came back in and put $30 on a pump and left. Then they came back in to put another $15 on the pump, and left. Then they came back in and spent 10 to 15 minutes picking out stuff, yelling at the kids for getting stuff they weren't suppose to but buying it anyhow. And then they left, permanently.
The Storyteller came by and had an interesting story today, he needed to go to the DMV for new tags on his car but he was $20 short and his retirement check wouldn't come in until Monday. I know, but he's a nice guy so I loaned him the money. And I know full well I'll never see that money again but I consider it good Karma and the universe has a habit of repaying me. I wish him happy motoring.
A guy wanted to know if the Vapes had ice? Beats me. I have no idea what that is suppose to mean. He didn't buy the Vape btw. Maybe I'll ask the Late Guy the next time I see him, he's a vape expert.
I went out to check the lot and found a pack of wipes from a United flight. How did they get there? Did someone drop them from a plane?
A brand name parts store manager dropped by. He was asking if we ever send people to the store and then told me they are creating a delivery service for people broke down near the highway. I asked him for a card but he didn't have one. He was planning on coming back to talk to the Manager. And since they are the closest and easiest to find it's where I send people.
It stared to hail so naturally a bunch of people came rushing in to park under the canopy, they weren't getting gas or snacks, just protecting their paint jobs. It passed quickly and they all left. It got really dark and cloudy so I turned on the canopy lights early. I looked across the street and the place looked closed. That's OK, I don't mind doing more business, it makes me look good.
Some woman was saying the kids couldn't get ice cream because it would make a mess in the car, instead they could get a slushie. I guess she never saw what happens when you drop one, those things explode and go everywhere.
Some guy actually wanted to trade out a warm bottle of Ginger Ale that he bought somewhere else for a cold one here. However it was a Schweppes and here we sell Canada Dry. Get a cup of ice dude.
The Storyteller came back, but didn't have my $20, he he. He got into a long conversation about coffee with a customer and then told me the story about the time he took a drafting class and they stole his design idea for the check in at a hotel. I've only heard that one a dozen times. He didn't finish drafting school but went to work for the railroad, but that's a different story I'll pretend I never heard before.
A ha! I got the restrooms cleaned and the outside trashes taken care of before the swarm showed up. I guess the rain and hail threw them off.
Stinky came in, the Crazy Lady came in and I left. Everybody is super hostile these days which makes me happy because nobody is mad at me. I can't wait to see what happens when they start the bridge construction.
