The Lottery Experiment, October

 Week 41

Because I've been putting money into the Alternative Fund and it's been a slow week at work I have $8.45 in the Tip Jar. My usual spot is still closed so I had to go to a different store again, it worked out for two weeks so who knows? The place had a mostly empty rack the last time I went there but this week they had some new tickets so I went for the $5 one with the potential jackpot of $20,000, but the ticket was not a winner, and it's not a second chance ticket either. So I'm starting out the month losing.

Week 42

I was told my usual spot would be open this week, but it wasn't. I almost forgot to buy a ticket this week but remembered because I had to go to the store, so I picked up one on my way home. It's been a slow week so I had $4.91 in the Tip Jar, it could have been more but I was really honest and gave people back what they overpayed me, good Karma and all. Anyhow since my usual spot is still closed and the other place doesn't have the ticket I wanted so I just got a dollar ticket with a potential payoff of $1000. And I lost. However it's a second chance ticket so I still have that to potentially look forward to.

Week 43

This was a good week for the tip jar, I ended up with $8.75. The place I normally go is still closed so I had to go to the alternate station and they don't have the game I want to play. Instead I bought a $5 ticket with a potential payout of $25,0000. Again I had to take it home to check it because they don't have a self scanner (I'm starting to understand why I had so many people coming in to check tickets where I use to work). Anyhow it wasn't a winner but it's a second chance ticket, fingers crossed.

Week 44

Things have shuffled at work again. The closed station is open and I'm covering a couple of shift there. Since I'm working on Sundays I decided to make that my purchase day, as long as this new work schedule lasts, and it will still result in 52 weeks at the end of the year. While my usual spot was closed I had to change my purchase method and quickly pick a ticket while standing at the counter but now I had the time to make a choice. Before going to work I did the dart board thing and it told me to buy the ticket in the #15 slot however after looking through everything there were three tickets I was more interested in buying. One I had played before and I liked it. The second was new and the third was more expensive but I had been waiting for it. I decided to let the coins decide, and it eliminated one of them but I still had to choose between the other two. I let my lucky coin decide by giving it a good spin on top of the display and it chose the $15 dollar ticket, with a potential jackpot of $25,000. I had $10.10 in the Tip Jar so I had to take $5 out of the Alternative Fund to pay for it. And....it was a loser, but it's a second chance ticket for a potential $15,000 so fingers crossed.

Later a woman came in and bought one of the tickets from one of the other games I was considering, and didn't win. I should have gone with the dart board and bought the ticket from the #15 slot. The good thing was she bought ten tickets with a second chance, a potential jackpot of $5000, and seven of them were losers. She tossed them so I brought them home and entered them on line. Wish me luck.

Also later I realized I had bought the $15 ticket at one of the other places and it was a $20 winner, I could have gone with the third choice after all.
